To Be A Product Manager | Day 23

This journal helps me improve 1% every day…

Welcome to Day 23 of

To Be A Product Manager

We had a meeting this morning about naming our product. Before the new year, we’ve already spent couple months on renaming our company and product, but none of those names satisfied most of people. Then we outsourced this.

As they present their ideas and how they come up with each of those names, I’m kind of disappointed about all the options. I think the most important thing in naming is

Easy to say
Easy to spread
Easy to remember

Then if the name could also provide a feeling of high tech, that will be perfect!

  • research about VR lobby product design

I spent my all day trying different VR app, content, and how they simplify the interaction in VR. I found an Android app called Grove, which is developed by Simon Geilfus back in 2015.

The whole environment in the app is very neat and beautiful, and you can play with it. You can get rid of the mountains and plant more trees, you can also move around, up to the hill and down in the valley.

For a startup, I guess an abstract background could be a best choice. It won’t take you a lot of time and money to design it, it won’t add too much pressure to CPU and it provides a comfortable environment for users.

What really bother me now is the control and interaction. How can I integrated all the button with the background so it won’t feel a little offensive in front of people? How to improve the “click” effect or interaction?

My name is Zake Zhang, a rookie VR product manager based in Shenzhen, China. I’m thinking what if I write daily product journal for 1,000 days?

Thanks for reading! I really appreciate your time!

Warm Regards,

be so good they can’t ignore you.
