What Is it?
This is the mod used for the Balls of Steel weekly tournaments, hosted by Diabetech. For more information, check out the official Balls of steel website. This page documents the exact changes in the mod for those curious.
Version History
1.2 — July 13th, 2105 — Judas now starts with half of a soul heart in addition to his 1 red heart container. Made modifications to some buggy rooms.
1.1 — July 1st, 2015 — The initial release. The first weekly was played on this version.
Installation
Copy all of the files to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Binding of Isaac Rebirth\Resources\
(You might want to make a backup of the directory first.)
Uninstallation
To go back to an un-modded Rebirth, delete everything in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Binding of Isaac Rebirth\resources\
except for the “packed” directory.
Difficulty
The mod is meant to be played on normal mode.
(This has been renamed to show as “BOS” in-game.)
Character
The mod is meant to be played with Judas as the racer’s character.
(Judas is modified in this mod; see below.)
Real Platinum God
The mod is meant to be played on a “Real Platinum God” save file (which is a save file that has everything in the game unlocked).
If don’t already have a Real Platinum God save file and still want to race, don’t worry. You can simply download a RPG save file from Speedrun.com. After you download and unzip it, stick it in the following directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[your steam ID]\250900\remote\
The Chest
The mod is intended to be used in races to The Chest.
Major Changes
Judas Modification
- Instead of starting with The Book of Belial, Judas starts with the D6.
- Instead of starting with 1 red heart, Judas starts with 1 red heart and half of a soul heart.
Donations Machine Removal
Donation Machines have been deleted out of all of the various rooms that they happen to appear in.
For documentation, the changed rooms are as follows:
Angel Room Buff
The Angel Rooms without pedestal items in them have been removed. Specifically, these are:
- #3 (3 soul hearts)
- #4 (2 eternal hearts)
Minor Changes
Dople / Evil Twin Fix
When holding down the tear fire button and entering a room with a Dople / Evil Twin, the player is hit with an unavoidable tear. This bug is fixed by changing all of the spawn points to be near the corner of the room. Once the room is loaded, the Dople / Evil Twin will snap back to where they are supposed to be, but the initial buggy tear will not be in line with the player.

Clustered Gaping Maws Fix
If a player with flying and low movement speed gets close to multiple Gaping Maws paired together, it becomes impossible to escape. In the rooms where this is the case, the Gaping Maws have been removed to alleviate this bug.

Begotten Fix
If a player enters from the southern door of the 2x1 Depths / Necropolis room with the single Begotten, they will automatically take damage. It seems clear that Edmund intended for there to only be a northern door in room, so the room has been changed in that manner to fix this bug.

Monstro Fix
Some rooms have Monstros that spawn near an entrance. If this Monstro spawns as the champion double Monstro, then the player will touch it while the room is loading and automatically take damage. This bug is fixed by moving the Monstros closer to the center of the room.

Gurdy Jr. Fix
Some rooms have Gurdy Jr.’s that spawn near an entrance. If this Gurdy Jr. spawns as the champion double Gurdy Jr., then the player will touch it while the room is loading and automatically take damage. This bug is fixed by moving the Gurdy Jr. closer to the center of the room.

Fistula Fix
Some rooms have Fistulas that spawn near an entrance. If the player is Guppy and has a sufficient number of unused blue flies and the Fistula spawns as the champion Boom Fly version, the flies will kill the Fistula while the room is loading and the player will automatically take damage. This bug is fixed by moving the Fistulas closer to the center of the room.
