Car Rides

Day 26 of 100

I like driving, for a max period of about an hour, unless its a joy ride. If I’m going somewhere, and it takes longer than two hours, I would rather take another form of transportation. I live in Louisville, and I have family in Chicago, which is about a four and a half hour drive to five hours. I hate it. I do not like sitting in a car for long periods of time because of the confined space, I don’t really get to see places, and I can’t do anything else without getting sick.

The confined space is a terrible feeling because after about two hours, I get cramped, and start to feel uneasy because I’m sitting in the same spot. It becomes uncomfortable and there is not much to see. For longer trips it is a little suffocating to be in that car for so long, you get restless and tired at the same time.

Example driving from Louisville to Columbus GA. 90% of the trip is trees, hills, and nothing. Chicago is mostly farm fields. I don’t see many sites and it is rather boring in the confined space. I can’t accomplish much because of the lack of internet, and spotty coverage of speed that I’m able to check emails and do things.

Recently I started to realize, that sitting in a car and staring at my phone can cause me to be sick, unless I look at the phone the entire time. It can be a little painful because I can’t read in the car anymore, so I can only listen to books or music. Driving the distance can become tiresome.

I like car rides that have a confined time period of about two hours. After that, I want out of the car, or prefer to take a plane.
