Copa Do Brasil quarterfinal preview: Grêmio vs Atlético Paranaense.

The reigning Copa do Brasil champions, Grêmio, currently the best attacking team & arguably the best team in Brazil are in fine form as they prepare for Atlético Paranaense. However, they are going to be without 4 very important players, striker Beto Da Silva, midfielder Bolaños & both fullbacks Leo Moura & Marcelo Oliveira are all recovering from injuries & will not be available for the cup tie.

Atlético Paranaense does not have the best luck against Grêmio, already losing to them in the league this season & getting knocked out from the Copa last year in the round of 16, their overall record follows suit, winning only 15 of the 64 encounters & losing 30 times. Now after an absolute dreadful start to the season, securing only 2 points in the first 6 games, o furacão (the hurricane) have turned it around with a 4 game win streak, conceding only once in this run. Channeling this recent form, along with catching Gremio after a loss at home, Atlético-PR have every right to be optimistic for this match.

Either way, I’d be a fool to bet against Grêmio, even after losing at home to Corinthians on Sunday, this team is poised to defend their title. Geromel & Kannermann are the best CB pairing in Brazil in my opinion, they have an absolute gem at midfield in Arthur & I can’t deny that Luan has been on a bean, already up to double digits in both goals & assists in all comps. Unreal. I don’t expect any surprises coming from this tie, Grêmio host the first leg & it will be rocking at the Arena, I think Atlético Paranaense’s arms are just too short to box with Grêmio.
