I think something that contributes to this is that at the High School stage students are receiving a general education across many topics. This interdisciplinary education lends itself to creativity and innovation. I sure knew more about trigonometry as a high school student than I do now as a Masters student. Becoming specialized as education progresses does handicap creativity .
