Evan’s Crypto Biography

Hey everyone, my name is Evan, I’m the new Community Lead at Zel. I’d like to take this moment to introduce myself and share my journey thus far.

As a kid I was always overly curious about things, this burning curiosity would serve me well in later years. My love for technology began when I got my first console around age 5, fast forward into my teens and I had morphed into your typical gamer, staying up late into the night barely able to keep my eyes open at school the next day. By 16 I knew I wanted to pursue a career within the tech industry, most of my teenage years I spent building high performance PC’s. I was offered a job at a local computer hardware store and loved every moment of my time there, mostly building custom systems at the request of customers.

Early 2016 a colleague at work introduced me to Bitcoin and it was at this point I fell down the rabbit hole that is cryptocurrency. For the following months I scoured the web for any information related to blockchain technology, consuming every article or whitepaper I came across, many sleepless nights caused by racing thoughts. I was addicted. The discovery of a permissionless, global and decentralized peer-to-peer payment system was the most impactful technology I had ever stumbled upon. During the 2017 bull run I joined crypto Twitter and began keeping a closer eye on price action, I witnessed peoples lives changing over night from crypto profits and their new found wealth. Can we get rich from crypto? Sure. But what about the bigger picture? I believe this technology is here to stay and the future of this industry is extremely bright, something I’m keen to be a part of long term. Scams were rampant in 2017–2018 and many people got burned, this was a side of crypto I had not seen before. I was searching for something with legitimacy.

I believe it was late 2018 I discovered Zel, keeping an eye on new developments from a distance. Zel is different; I saw they wanted to innovate and become the new standard of privacy technology. Many privacy coins’ utility is simply to keep transactions private, this is where Zel stands out. The team’s vision to expand the ecosystem was intriguing to me. Then I discovered ZelCore… WOW. Needless to say it’s the best multi-asset wallet I’ve seen to date. Not only is it beautiful in design but can hold more digital assets than any other. Finally, I’d like to say thanks to the Zel team for giving me this opportunity. Cryptocurrency and community growth are two areas I’m very passionate about — combine them both and you have a perfect storm. I’m excited to help grow this strong community and contribute to the growth of the Zel ecosystem.

Please give Evan a warm welcome in our Discord and we are very excited to have him on the team as Zel continues to innovate the crypto space.
