2022 Review: The Year Blockchain Went Mainstream (or Tried To)
The good 😄, the bad😖, the let-us-never-talk-about-it-again year-end review🤫
It’s been a weird year. Web3 started 2022 as arguably the hottest and fastest-growing sector in the world–and ended in a state of chaos, concern, and confusion. Riddled with security leaks and scandals, crypto certainly put our trust and patience to the test.
We can all acknowledge a few shortcomings.

- FTX’s ongoing debacle
Despite all of this and more, we also acknowledge how the community has demonstrated unparalleled tenacity, relentlessly fighting for our decentralized future through so much adversity.

- Ethereum’s merge, proof of stake
- Starbucks’ Odyssey, a Web3-enabled loyalty program
- Nike’s .Swoosh, a web3-enabled platform
Major brands and large investment funding commitment to blockchain projects remain undeniable. Countless Fortune 500 brands jumped head-first into the world of smart contracts and NFTs — finding new and exciting ways to engage their customers. And we believe it will continue to happen, inching us closer and closer to mainstream adoption.
If you’re reading this, we all know web3 isn’t going anywhere. We fervently believe the web3 community is made up of amazingly resilient, passionate, talented, and hard-working people, all propelling blockchain technology forward.
In short, 2022 was a bit… turbulent. But a New Year is quickly approaching, and with it — a metric ton of hope and GMI optimism.
What Does 2023 Have In-store for Us?
We would love to see more mainstream adoption, large and small, household name brand adoption of web3, and generally a better world because of blockchain technology and the impassioned community supporting and building it.
And for Zelus users — we look forward to more amazing things in 2023! Like really amazing things.
We’ve worked tirelessly to ensure you have the best and most secure experience possible when storing, exchanging, and collecting digital assets. Not our words, but we did make it as a top wallet choice for 2022.
As we look to ring in the New Year with champagne toasts and watch an illuminated disco ball drop at the stroke of midnight — we’re most excited to share our plans for the coming year.

In 2023, we are investing heavily in our backend technology to bring unique new product features, incorporate even more functionality, ensure your digital assets (again, not our assets, but yours) are as incredibly secure, continue to present a great UX/UI, and remain as accessible as possible to onboard new users to explore web3 in all its glory.
We’ll be introducing a whole slew of new in-app services that will make managing your digital assets all-in-one simple and secure wallet app that much better (and save you a bit of trouble juggling multiple wallets).
You can also expect access to even more digital currencies and an introduction to killer digital wallet features to not only store your digital assets securely but also to use them in new and exciting ways across the web3 universe.
