The hottest tech topic of 2022 will have a major (and inevitable) impact on web3.

If you’ve been following along, you already know how Web3 is in its infancy. In a similar light, Artificial intelligence (AI) is another technology at the beginning of its life cycle, getting massive news attention. The intersection and interaction of these two technologies will have a big impact on each other and the world.

Think about how Google changed the internet, how the internet changed the mobile phone, or how cheese changed the hamburger. Yeah, we went there.

We’re talking about massive generational shifts. While we can’t be sure about the exact use cases (we’re building in web3, not AI), here are a few key areas where AI will play a critical role in the future of the decentralized web:

Art/Design/Gaming

Polygon recently announced an AI avatar generator called CharacterGPT that can be minted as an NFT. This is only the beginning of how generative AI tools can optimize creativity and reenvision how we produce art on and off-chain.

The same factors hold for gaming and metaverse world-building, where AI can recognize patterns and expedite design and game development at staggering rates.

Decentralized AI

As computing resources improve, we see a growing number of decentralized AI applications incorporating blockchain technology. These web3-friendly AI applications will enable the creation of decentralized AI models more favorably owned and controlled by the community rather than by a centralized entity.

AI could be key to giving power back to groups of people who, without it, wouldn’t have the resources to stand up to the tech giants.

Predictive Analytics

AI algorithms are becoming increasingly sophisticated and can analyze large amounts of data in real time. This will enable Web3 applications to predict user behavior, market trends, and other important data points.

Predictive data is a major boost for Web3 startups who can’t afford to run extensive user testing and studies. AI can help develop more efficient and effective decentralized applications that adapt faster to changing market conditions and user needs. Web3 mass adoption, anyone?

More Efficient Asset Tokenization

Web3 technologies like NFTs are already being used to tokenize digital assets. In the future, we will see the tokenization of all types of assets, including physical assets. Ai could be used to write smart contracts, enabling the creation of decentralized marketplaces where assets can be traded and tracked in real time with less dependence on human developers.

Developer Tools

AI will be key in cutting down on developer time and cost. This could accelerate growth for Web3 projects held back by their access to resources. Web3 is still far from mass adoption, so any help from machines is welcome.

Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs)

You could replace DAOs with “companies and startups” here, but we think DAOs are the organizational structure of the future. And it’s more web3 friendly.

So how can AI help Operations teams? Tools like Adept.ai can be leveraged to create more sophisticated and efficient DAOs — automating tasks humans need more time to complete. More efficient companies mean wider and faster product development and go-to-market, bringing more benefits to consumers, investors, and stakeholders/DAO members.

It’s hard to predict the future, so this list could never be comprehensive. Will this emergence of AI end in the Skynet-like post-apocalyptic world Hollywood depicts? Who could say for sure — not yet, at least. But we know both Web3 and AI are here to stay, and for now, they are improving how we build and interact with the internet.

How do you think AI will impact Web3 in the future?

Food for thought,
