When was the last time that you felt like “OMG!! Time went soo fast??” while doing a particular task or an activity. Best e.g. would be scrolling reels, playing your favourite game, doing dishes, reading a novel, etc. This exact situation which you introspected right now about mindlessly scrolling reels or watching TV shows, shows that you were in “Flow State”.

Now, Getting into this Flow State is easy if its a task which you enjoy doing BUT what about the tasks “which you hate to do but have to do” for e.g. “STUDYING”.

Follow along as I will tell you exactly how to tap into the FLOW STATE as and when you need.

4 Pillars of FLOW

  1. FLOW BLOCKERS — Your Phone

Think about it, When you get up in the morning what is the first thing you look at? If you are like 90% of people then you will check your phone within 10–15 minutes of waking up, which further leads to “productivity pitfall”

Actionable Step : Flow before Phone i.e. get as much of Productive work as you can before even touching your phone right after waking up. Its easier said than done, but you will never know if you never try

2. FLOW PRONENESS — Your tendency to access FLOW

We need to make our physiology(body), psychology(mind) and our environment conducive to FLOW Proneness to maximize our likelihood of accessing Flow State

Actionable Step : Wake Up and Get to work within 90 sec of opening your eyes. Don’t Believe me!? Try it out for yourself…. works like MAGIC!!!

According to Neuroscience, your FLOW Proneness is highest first thing in the Morning

3. FLOW TRIGGERS — These are preconditions that instantly drive us into FLOW

Set Clear Goals, Immediate feedback, Challenge / Skill balance

Actionable Step : Engage in tasks that are slightly more difficult (4%) than your current Skill level.

4. FLOW CYCLE — Struggle → Release → Flow → Recovery

Actionable Step : Start by persisting through the struggle phase…the times when you “feel like you want to avoid the task”. Seek Voluntary Discomfort.

Now, The Implementation on How to get into the flow state at your own will is not easy and takes time to build . So, this post is a constant reminder for myself to get into FLOWSTATE .
