Well said Larry; however, I do not recall the same outrage in April 2008, when Will Bunch of the Philadelphia Daily News asked the then candidate Obama if his administration would seek to prosecute officials of the Bush administration. If you recall, Obama’s response was, “What I would want to do is to have my Justice Department and my Attorney General immediately review the information that’s already there and to find out are there inquiries that need to be pursued . . . I would want to find out directly from my Attorney General — having pursued, having looked at what’s out there right now — are there possibilities of genuine crimes?”
The reality is, what we see and hear, regardless of the facts and/or its context are all political and based on pure emotion. As a Latino male and 1st generation American I fear we already are that third world country you fear. On one hand, I see Democrats destroying people’s lives and careers with nothing more than ad hominem attacks, which has become a Washington sport. On the other hand, I see Republicans constantly turn to the proverbial principle “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” to avoid becoming a Democrat target, yet those same Republicans stand tough and strong against any other Republican. So who is the defender of our democracy?
