My list is not a joke. It’s an exaggeration built on some combination of truth and bigoted racist caricatures. The same exact thing is true of the white privilege list. If you disagree, you need to make an actual argument about why rather than simply declare that one list is racist while the other isn’t. I don’t see how making gross generalizations about white people is any less intellectually lazy and racist than making gross generalizations about black people. Whatever truths each list contains — and there are undoubtedly some truths in each — they are overshadowed by the extent to which each list is also full of dumb stereotypes that ascribe characteristics to people based solely on the color of their skin, without knowing anything else about them. This should feel repulsive to anyone with any moral compass or aesthetic sensibility. This kind of labeling of people on the basis of race is precisely what we as a society — or, at least, those of us who aren’t/weren’t racists — had been fighting against for many decades. It is shocking that there are so many people around now who have seemingly forgotten (or never learned) our history and want to go back to the days of seeing everything and everyone in black and white.
