Sure. So what? First, those aren’t slavery, so my statement that you highlighted remains true. Second, these phenomena you describe are, I’d agree, things the U.S. should not have done, but again, so what? Let’s not do them again. We can agree on that. Most of us who are around today were either not in positions of power or not even alive during the time frame you mention. My whole point in the article is that there’s a difference between acknowledging errors and resolving not to repeat them, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, basing present policy on an overreaction to those mistakes. The phenomena you describe all fall into that category.
