The right to freedom of speech means that the government cannot restrict your right to speak freely. That is what the first amendment is about:

Amendment I. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Medium is not the government. It is a private blogging platform. Just as a publishing house is not violating anyone’s right to free speech if it chooses not to publish work that advocates violence against cops, Medium likewise is not violating anyone’s freedom of speech if it refuses to tolerate writers using its resources to gain a following in order to then promote violence against law enforcement.

The DiDi Delgado’s post is in clear violation of these rules, a point I’ve now added to my original response to her piece. Case closed.
