Paper Napkin

The sun used to be brighter

and the glow of its rays, soothing.

The moon used to be closer

and its light, enchanting.

The water was cool

and made me crave warmth.

The grass was a carpet

but now it’s just grass.

My mind was a playground

but now it’s a prison.

My ideas were much more

than words on a screen.

I used to dread school

now I dread what will happen if I don’t go back.

I was a smart kid

what am I now?

Infatuation was fun

I’ve not had a chance to feel that in a long, long time.

Romance is not something I’ve experienced

it’s something I’ve observed.

My problems used to have answers

maybe they still do.

The sun used to be brighter.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?
