I think Ben Franklin summed up the situation very well when he said, “They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

I fail to see how circumstances have changed in any way to alter the truth of what Franklin said.

Perhaps a justice who followed “originalism” as our dearly departed Justice Scalia, would at least value of a statement of a Founder of the United States, and a signer of both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
