In official New England though, winters are worse and longer than they are in PA. If you plan to do lots of staycationing at your newly improved abode, you are much less likely to go stir crazy there during those cold, dark months.

Besides New England is very much within easy driving distance from PA, so you can always visit whenever you want. I hate driving myself but I managed to make it from CT to college in PA without much fuss at all. (And I got to drive through the Delaware Water Gap which was a heck of a gorgeous ride!)

I think you and Deb picked a great part of the country for your retirement progression plans! :)
