nderground, I like your line of thinking. Trump is the president-elect because those who cared enough to vote wanted to send a big middle finger to Washington. Trump is an atom bomb of leaders in that he probably won’t be effective but he will be very destructive. The business of government will go on in spite of Trump, in fact he will be used as a puppet and scapegoat to blame when something goes wrong. The US president doesn’t have nearly as much power as we imagine that he does. Sadly many, many people believed his campaign promises without realizing that there were precious few that he could actually make good on. This is why you hear the attitude that “we got the president we deserved” because too many of us were naive or desperate enough to believe in his grandstanding and puffery.
