Meet Scott Mescudi A.K.A. Kid Cudi
Scott Mescudi, better known as Kid Cudi, describes his obstacles and motivation getting to where he is now. His upbringing has influenced his music and continues to build him into a wiser individual. It’s amazing to see someone have the desire and burn in thier soul to reach their dreams.
Growing up, Scott wasn’t the best student. He describes how his “upbringing in this town and school district” made him the man he is today. The experiences he lived through make him up and are applied in his music. At 20, Scott had a burning desire to achieve his mission. He wanted more than just to make music and be a musician, but wanted to show the world what he was capable of doing, so he moved to New York.
Through emotions of fear, danger, determination to prove others wrong, and having a sense of wonder, Mescudi was motivated and influenced to go out and explore the world and create music. With music Scott had a platform to express himself and had a chance to connect with others through openly rapping about depression, dealing with suicidal thoughts, loneliness, and realized he wasn’t the only one feeling that way.
Kid Cudi describes himself as always being outspoken, creative, and artsy. He used to draw and design tattoos growing up, so these traits have always carried within him.
Scott Mescudi is a great example of how his experiences and lifestyle shaped him into the man he is, and how that influences his music and connection to his listeners. There’s a strong bridge when speaking about deep, dark subjects that many people are afraid to expose, but are feeling this way. This relates to my big question of why people are more attracted to certain genres or songs according to their lifestyle, emotions, and experiences.
