Keeping things updated

As should be obvious, since this is my third entry, I suck at keeping things updated. I suck at keeping blogs, or keeping my photography page updated. I’m planning to actually make a schedule in hopes of writing regularly, because I have plenty of ideas and thoughts that I want to share, but I never take the time to write it out, let alone post it. So I’m going to carry around a notebook for ideas, and try to figure out a schedule and see if that helps.

For this entry, I’ll let you in on a small secret that really isn’t a secret once you know me for 5 minutes. I. Love. Books. Due to a lack of time I now read way less than I used to however, but I’m still what you could call a book lover. As a child, I would read 50 books a year, on average. I’d always go to the library and borrow a few books, about 3, maybe 4 if they were ‘small’ ones (200 pages or so) and read all of those books in the 3 weeks that I could have them. If I didn’t finish them all I could extend the loan, but usually I’d have them finished in time so I moved on to the next books.
Nowadays however, I don’t read thát much anymore. Last year, I read 15 books. This year, I’ve read 10 so far, currently reading my 11th book, hoping to get 20 books in 2017. Which means I need to pick up the pace a little bit, but seeing as I currently have 10 unread books on my shelves, with more to come, I’m not really worried about my goal.
What’s funny however, is that 15 books a year is a lot to some people, but to most other book lovers, it’s actually just a little. So that puts me in this weird position where people will either be amazed, or will go “oh really? That’s not a lot, I read 300 pages a day!”

But anyway, I’m getting off track. The reason I started talking about this, is because of what I did today. Because my gods, that says a lot about how much I love books.
So an author I really adore released a new book very recently. And the site I always order my books from, offered it in paperback an hardback. Being a fan of paperbacks, I ordered her book in paperback. Later that day, she made clear that the paperback wasn’t released yet. Soooo that got me worried.
It should all be fine however, so I probably didn’t waste my money on a book I’ll never get. However. I got impatient… I travel for free during the weekend and… since we only have one Waterstones store, I decided to travel for a total of about 7 hours, excluding a dinner break and the time spent in the city, just to get to Waterstones and buy the book in hardback. The exact same book I already ordered and paid for and is currently on its way, it’s been shipped and everything. It should arrive somewhere next week. But nope, I just had to go and travel and buy the book just so I could start reading it.
Sometimes I’m just baffled at myself.

But I’m derailing a bit here, losing whatever I had planned for this entry. So I’ll leave with another listen recommendation. For this time, it’s ‘Into My Arms’ by Eliza Rickman. You can listen to it on her website, it’s the last song on her album ‘O, You Sinners’. I very much recommend it, since it’s just a very soothing song, yet also very… Eliza. Eliza Rickman has a very own style which I have very quickly fallen in love with.

So with that, I bid you all goodnight, and I hope to catch you next time.

You can call me Blue. That’s both a nickname of mine, and also a little joke since I often feel blue. I’m an art student, though mostly focusing on photography.
