The Moment
I think that in this world, we are told everyday that we are NOT enough. What we are doing isn’t good enough, and won’t be good enough. You see the memes, pushing you to be more and do more everyday. Or the most common one I see that states, “If you didn’t make the Forbes list today, then you need to get up”. Why? What if I didn’t want to make the Forbes list?
My question is, in this life where you are always racing against the clock to get ahead, when are you taking the time to actually live in the moment? Most people get a new job or opportunity and right away start to feel like, “Okay, I need to plot my next move” . Why do we feel like every second of the day our mind needs to be running, our plots need to thicken, and our pockets need to get deeper?
I have so many successful friends, and coworkers around me whom don’t even know how WELL they actually are doing because they fail to see the value of the moment they are currently living in. This is simply because their mind is so fixated on how to get better, and how to get ahead. In this life I’ve encountered so many people full of EXCELLENCE that don’t believe they are because they are clouded by the harsh judgement of not just themselves, but the judgement and comparison of others as well.
So today I ask you, if you don’t do anything else, LIVE in the moment. Don’t just BE in it, LIVE in it. Enjoy your job, your family, and your friends. Our time on this earth is so limited, so many people are leaving this world so young. Don’t let your life turn into a race against others, or you’ll be racing for the rest of your life. Be happy, be content, be in the moment.
