Not Her

I’m not the girl I used to be;

hallways don’t elicit fear,

the self-hatred is not as strong.

No more mascara stained pillows

but the feelings still linger

like the ash after a raging fire

or the smell of rain after a storm.

I’m not her anymore

so why do I still feel like I am?
