Introducing the Outlier Podcast Festival Advisory Board
Outlier is proud to announce that the following audio professionals will serve on it’s Board of Advisors.
The board will help OutlierHQ look for, connect with, and help podcasters throughout the U.S. find their voice and be heard in their own communities via the power of podcasting and live events. We feel that building a diverse and experienced board of advisors will help us reach this goal.

Christina Barsi — Founder | Avant Haus Media
Christina Barsi is the founder of Avant Haüs Media, a podcast production and consulting company that focuses on empowering the creator. Barsi has been podcasting & producing since 2013 beginning with her narrative sci-fi noir podcast DIMENSION, which inspired her nominated documentary film about the process of creating DIMENSION, entitled IS ANYONE LISTENING- A PODCAST STORY that premiered in London.
Barsi’s creative background in acting, writing, directing, producing, filmmaking, audio post production/editing, podcasting, audio hosting, voice over as well as her certification in Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coaching is all leveraged in how a creator brings their story to life when working with Avant Haüs Media.
Josh Hallmark | True Crime Bullsh**, Our Americana, The Karen & Ellen Letters, and PLAYLIST
Josh Hallmark is a Brooklyn-based podcaster who hosts and produces four shows (True Crime Bullsh**, Our Americana, The Karen & Ellen Letters, and PLAYLIST through the Our Americana Podcast Network. His newest show, True Crime Bullsh** launched in December of 2018, and hit 1 million downloads in June.
Josh’s podcast journey began in 2015, after spending six months living in a van and traveling throughout America. That trip inspired his first show, Our Americana, which has become a foundational through-line for authentic storytelling in all his shows: focus not just on the story, but how the telling of the story impacts everyone involved, including the storyteller.
Brandon Hull — Co-Founder | HelloCast
Brandon Hull has been involved in podcasting since 2005, playing roles such as host, producer, operations lead, and mentor.
Brandon is a husband, a father of five, the founder of HelloCast.com, and currently the host of Freelance to Founder and Sidegig podcasts.
Moby Hayat — Host | The Fire Show Podcast
Moby is the host of the Fire Show Podcast and founder of the 2weekcontentbootcamp, where he gives you everything need to know about creating content that can attract the right customers for creative businesses.
Moby has volunteered his time over the last 2+ years to help put on events like SXSW, the Outlier Podcast Festival, and Podcast Movement, just to name a few. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Texas in Austin.
Lisa Orkin — Creative Director | The Radio Ranch | Founder of Project Woo Woo
Lisa has been in hanging in recording studios from the age of 3, learning from her dad and mentor Dick Orkin and eventually working alongside him as the Creative Director for his company, the award-winning Radio Ranch. Lisa has over 25 years of experience in copywriting, scripting, audio production, voice acting, teaching, and speaking in radio and podcasting. Lisa is an indie filmmaker, working as a writer, actor, and producer in award-winning films with the likes of Adam Mckay, Shira Piven, and Dweezil Zappa. Lisa has voiced thousands of comedy radio commercialS heard all over the world.
An inveterate indie podcaster, Lisa has produced four podcasts on her own, doing everything from creation, hosting, booking talent, recording, editing, and marketing. She has two shows that consistently break into Apple Podcasts’ top 20 for their categories, one of which is the hilarious Project Woo Woo.
Skye Pillsbury — Writer and Host | Inside Podcasting
Podcast junkie and recovered publicist Skye Pillsbury writes Inside Podcasting, a three-times-per-week free email newsletter from Inside.com. In 2019 Skye launched the Inside Podcasting podcast, in which creators talk about their craft.
Over the years, Skye has crafted digital communication strategies for brands like Yahoo! and Microsoft, and has worked regularly with media outlets such as The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and NPR. Skye was famous for 49 minutes when she and her son were featured in an episode of Gimlet Media’s Heavyweight podcast.
Laura Cathcart Robbins — Producer and Host | The Only One in the Room
Laura Cathcart Robbins is a freelance writer, podcast host, and storyteller living in Studio City. She has been active for many years as a speaker and school trustee, and is credited for creating The Buckley School’s nationally recognized committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
Laura’s recent articles in the Huffington Post on the subjects of race, recovery, and divorce have garnered her world-wide acclaim. She is a 2018 LA Moth StorySlam winner and host of the popular podcast, The Only One In The Room. Laura currently sits on the advisory board for the San Diego Writer’s Festival and is also a founding member of Moving Forewords, the first national memoirist collective of its kind.
Keegan Winfield — Host | Your Angry Neighborhood Feminist
Keegan has been producing podcasts since 2016 and her goal is to encourage and empower others to use their voice, and this platform, to not only share their art, but also to open up a dialogue for change, inclusivity, and acceptance.
