Thanks for this article! I joined Patreon last month in my first baby steps to be a self-suficient artist. I love the message that the company tries to spread, whether it is vocal or just implied through example.

Patreon really does seem like a dream come true for someone like me. As a teacher, your passion can only hold out so long when it’s importance in the public eye reflections its ability to keep you afloat as a individual. I’ll save you the suspense, it’s not very good!

Teaching full time didn’t fufill my basic needs, even alongside a serving job, and it felt like my aspirations had no worth.

I know success isn’t usually instantaneous on the site, as with any new venture. But I feel as though I have more faith in myself and your company’s mission than I did in the disconnect that was my previous career path.
