That’s the way I saw it, too.
Fey didn’t seem to just be pointing out that Nazis and KKK were hurting us (that’s an obvious point to most sane people), but that some white people were helping the white supremacists by staying silent over their own white privilege to be disconnected from race struggles, like the ridding of insulting monuments to slavery. Eating a white, US flag cake was the perfect imagery for this point. Satire at its best.
