Less than a Week to go!

time has truly flown by (excuse the cliché)

I cannot believe this time next week I will be heading to Washington! What is this?!

I know literally everyone who goes on holiday is surprised at how quickly time goes by, but I would be lying if I said it feels like 3 weeks have passed since I arrived. It’s funny because the days themselves go by quite slowly, like getting back from working at project and it’s only noon and I have the whole rest of the day to fill — especially this week (but I will address that in a moment) — and yet this is my 3rd Sunday here and I remember touching down at the airport like it was yesterday (again apologies for another disgustingly over-used cliché) ((and the memory might be slightly more vivid because I almost broke down when they were like ‘errrr no luggage for you’)) but I digress.

Unfortunately my iPhone has finally kicked the bucket. I was managing ok with half a screen and the colours all out of whack but earlier in the week it had a full on seizure and has unfortunately passed away, not that the thing was any good as soon as I upgraded to ios 7 but you know, still kinda weird not having a phone. Hopefully I can use my upgrade early or something cos I don’t have the money to get a new contract ☹

So I finished all my Spanish lessons! And I was surprisingly upset that I’m not doing it anymore. I will miss the signature ‘chicos chicos chicosss’ of one of our teachers that we loved to imitate so very fondly. Hell I’m gonna miss everything, I’m not ready to leave. Determined to cherish as much of my final 5 days as possible! The good news is that now my spanish is done I’m gonna have literally so much free time as I alluded to earlier in this post. So for my time here so far we’ve finished at the school at 12 and then had spanish at 2, so after getting the bus back to Quepos it’s about half 12 and there’s not enough time to go back to the house so we had to just kind of chill in the town centre until our lesson at 2. Which is by no means a chore, but after trying to keep control of the kids for a few hours in the ridiculous heat (it’s always suuuper hot in the mornings and usually rains later in the day) the sweat and tiredness levels are seriously high by the time we get back into town. It made it pretty difficult to stay fully focused during the spanish lessons but I think I did a pretty good job. I’m actually really pleased with how much I learnt. Like I said I’ve definitely learnt as much as I did at GCSE German. Well the rules and grammar at least. It’s only the words that are harder to remember which comes with continuous practice I suppose. But it’d be interesting to see how well I did on one of the Spanish reading tests (Leah if you have any I’m trying out one). But anyway, my point was now we’re done for the day at 12 and that’s it! SO MUCH BEACH TIME. I’m so excited.

I’ve also decided to head back to San Jose on the friday instead of the Saturday as that’s when everyone else is going back. So I’ve booked an extra night at the hostel and it also means I’ve got all day Saturday to chill in the capital which should be awesome! Me and Michael are planning to hopefully go up the volcano in the morning before he has to leave for the airport in the afternoon. Really excited about that.

Also good news about my epic failure that is getting pictures to accompany all my stories about being here. A photobucket account has been created for everyone to share all their photos whilst they’re here. Which is awesome for me because all I have to do is log on to it and steal all the awesome photos on there. So I’ve made sure to ask everyone reeeeally nicely that they put as many photos up there as possible so I can take all the credit despite my failings as a photographer.

Will hopefully aim to get a couple more posts up here over the week, and I’ll probably add another one or two for my adventures in Washington D.C! This time next week I will be on the plane there now :O (It’s half 4 here). Madness.

Much love, 3 quarters of my journey is over! I’m so not ready aha
