NOT USUALLY

I’m not usually a poet
No verses on strings
Written for a solo duet
But oft I voice my silence
In text wrapped sentiments
If that be deemed poetry
Hand me a pen as I scrawl free

I’m not usually a singer
No Streisand on the tonic sol-fa
Just dissonant operas in showers
But when words are lacking
The tunes give me a backing
If it be melody to your ears
I’ll gladly blow rhythm in the air

I’m not usually a drama queen
No frenzied shouts to happen a prodigy
You could say Ice Queen mayhap
With cool stare, an unruffled pose
No visible tears to tell of woes
But few things my heart I vow
For these I’ll gladly be crowned

I’m not usually a friend
Not often do attentions I tend
Oft I sport the lone soldier
Still not without a smile to spare
But for the ones I hold dear
Those whose scents are ever near
For them I’ll give with no fear.
