5 Things to Inspire You to Write.

THE DREADED CURSOR FLASHES, TAUNTING US ON THE BLANK SCREEN. WE DENY SEEING THIS MONSTER…”WRITER’S BLOCK”.
I KNOW YOU HAVE…
So now that we know that we as writers have something in common, I’m reaching out to you as we all have been there and it is not the best feeling as a writer. When I get into this slump I have come up with ways to overcome this brain zapping monster with these few methods:
1. “WORD PICKING”
SOMETIMES IT IS EASY AS PICKING APPLES…
Ok maybe not as easy, but sometimes I find when I’m stuck I look at the dictionary. Yes, the dictionary, which can be the old fashion book style sitting on a dusty shelve or on-line like Dictionary.com. Looking up and understanding a new word will not only puts new words into vocabulary arsenal but could stir the creative juices too.
2.”GET LOST”
BEST WAY TO FIND YOURSELF SOMETIMES…
We all be there probably, I’m putting a label to it. Sitting at your favourite park, or listening to an awesome soundtrack whatever, but get lost in something you know that inspires you. Go there and enjoy it! Don’t worry about spelling and grammar issues at the time, just write it down!
3.”EXCERCISE”
GET THE BLOOD FLOWING GETS THOSE WORDS GOING…
Ok before some of you lynch me for saying the “E” Word let me explain. A pause from what you are trying to write is always a good idea. When you exercise especially going for a walk I find your mind wanders and has time to take the environment, getting creative juices gelling. Try it!
4.”CHAPTERS”
WHAT BETTER WAY TO BE INSPIRED ARE OTHER BOOKS…
Personally, I know when I’m scouring the aisles of Chapters or a local Library, I feel the words calling out to me. Nothing better than reading other author’s work. Some may think this is plagiarism, but I think as writers this how we expand and keep pushing the margin but collecting ideas and bring your own creative spin on it. As a writer if I knew someone was inspired by my work I would be humbled and honoured.
5.”CHALLENGE”
THINK OUTSIDE OF YOUR BOX…
When you are having mix feeling like excitement and anxiousness with new writing projects like I’m having, writing this article. It forces you to step up to the plate. Also, don’t be afraid of criticism, because it is nice to great comments all the time to “stroke” your ego. Yet criticism is what deflates us to understand that there is always room for improvement. It happened to me where the Chief Editor VoElla Amanda Carrington provided feedback saying that the site needed work. I was devastated for a few days, but as got my ego set aside I realized her being truthful and was trying to help. So since then I have respected her that and I am grateful because it has only made UInk Poetry better.
These are only a few ideas and course each of us has our own ideas to debunk the writer’s block “Monster”.
WHAT ARE YOURS? WE WOULD LOVE HEAR FROM YOU.
