The 20 sec Film Review: Detroit — A Solid Masterpiece

When a group of young men are more willing to demonstrate against the removal of a statue rather than more urgent matters such as endemic poverty, Detroit is an ambitious film by the Oscar winner director Kathryn Bigelow that demonstrates that prejudices haven’t changed much. The Us and Them mentality is rather prevalent as it was in the turbulent 60’s in the States. Based on accounts of the killings of three innocent black young men by the Police in a hotel in Detroit in the summer of 1967, it provides the unpalatable truth that the lives of some human beings are worthless excused by racial prejudice. A solid masterpiece that I highly recommend to watch.
