It was bizarre when we closed our recent ICO: we all just stood there. Half of us started slowly picking up our lives in the company. An ominous PTSD cloud was wavering over our heads: we had withdrawal effects from the adrenaline.

The effort had been so tense that we didn’t do any of the things we thought we would do: we did not have a party or drink champagne or exchange war stories. We were exhausted and went to bed early. It had to sink in… A global audience had given us the mandate to set up an alternative infrastructure for health data to be collected, predicted and to be the source of change, all living in a new dimension called “the edge” (on people’s edge devices, their smartphones).

It reminded me of the TV show Stranger Things. The Edge will be a dimension where there are no servers, no cloud, no location. The data will be decentralized with a cryptographic incantation, at the click of a switch. And that network will host its own constituents, develop its own culture and mint its own currency.

Deciphering NEURON

NEURON is designed to let people control their own medical data and to share that data with data scientists -all via opt-in- In return they get:

  • Early access to the resulting precision medicine breakthroughs.
  • Ability to organize their own data trial competitions in group or alone using a prize (bounty) for the best predictive model.
  • Paid to invest in their health and to sell this investment in return for a fair market price to corporations.
  • Bonus in case of success (drug discovery).
  • They are informed about the work that was completed thanks to their data, and how it’s helping other patients.

Our conceptual architecture consists of 3 pillars:

After Day 1, the rest of the week disappeared in signing NDAs, meetings with data sources and potential partners both in the “chained” and the “unchained” world. Thanks to the blockchain community we fine-tuned our first ideas of the crypto-economic models.

Our next sitrep will answer existential questions related to the product.

  • What is the right way to decentralize the data to the edge and to distribute it from node to node?
  • How did we spec our kernels and calculated our compute power?
  • When will we be opening our public GitHub to serve as our global seeding instrument for crowdtech?
  • When will we start building up our data science community and the developer community (per country)?

In the meantime, check out our inclusive AI project https://inclusive.doc.ai/ , so far many of you have been training it, and it is very helpful.

Cofounder and CEO

* A sitrep is a report on a current military situation in a particular area :)
