Self Disclosed: An (unofficial) Survey of 39 Product Managers and How Much We Make

Product Management is a new but old profession. I say old because some of us have been in for a while but new because there are more of more products and services out there that there’s more opportunities in this space than ever before in history.

A few months ago, someone asked Product Managers on HackerNews to share their work characteristics and also disclose their compensation anonymously.

We wrote an article about this on ProductManagersJobs.com detailing the 39 brave individuals who lifted the curtain on PM compensation. I applaud these individuals and thank you for their contribution.

It’s not scientific at all, but it does gives us a glimpse into the working conditions of Product Managers.

A couple take-aways and surprises:

  1. Total Cash Compensation of Product Managers is well into the six-figures.
  2. Total Years of Experience has a median of mid-single digits.
