18 Min. Affirmation Meditation

I thought after yesterday’s How to Quiet Your Inner Critic post we could all use a little affirmation meditation.
I know affirmations still get a cheesy rap–SNL’s Stuart Smalley didn’t help with that;)
But by being too cool for affirmation school, we’re missing out on the amazing benefits that can be gained by, dare I say it, believing in ourselves.
No one ever bats an eye at an athlete who says, “I got this!” Or a team shouting, “We are the champions!” No one argues over why they do it? Because it works!
Nothing gets a team more fired up then showing them what winning feels like, even in their imagination.
But to do that in real life, our day-to-day …
Noooooooooo. God forbid we even take a compliment or think only inches highly of ourselves.
I get it, being boastful is unattractive. Don’t worry, affirmations won’t turn you into an ego-maniac–Trump got there all on his own, without, I can assure you, any mindfulness practice.
There’s no bragging here in this work. It’s an honoring of who you are. The miracle of you (because, if we’re honest, there were thousands of sperm that didn’t make it! And for that alone, my friend, you are special;)
In this meditation, you can come to learn how I came into this practice kicking and screaming. And it still worked.
Now that’s powerful stuff!
I leave you with this: Do you have a practice of affirmations? What’s your method?
