Patient vs. HCP – The Battle For Better Healthcare
Closing the loop
When we think about healthcare and our experiences of it, we tend to imagine a world of face-to-face appointments and hours spent in the waiting room of your healthcare professional (HCP). But in a modern world, with connected-tech, how has this all changed and how will it continue to evolve?
Thanks to platforms such as Apple’s ‘HealthKit’ or Google’s ‘Fit’, HCPs now have a much clearer view of how compliant patients are to their treatment and what goals they’re actually achieving as opposed to what they say they’re achieving. Now that’s not to say that patients lie, but an accurate picture of activity levels for, say, a diabetic patient, is fundamental to prescribing their treatment pathway and understanding how likely, and how quickly they will achieve their goals.
Connected-tech now supports the process of diagnosis and also finding the best solution. Patients are now, more than ever, able to feel empowered to self-diagnose using the right equipment and take this knowledge directly to their HCP without fear of seeming like a hypochondriac.
