Impractical purity: why I ditched WordPress for Medium
Danilo Campos

I have a few blogging projects which share a Wordpress (or Ghost) install, and here’s why I haven’t migrated them to Medium: because while they are content in an of themselves, they also don’t belong to Medium. And while you get more distribution on Medium, everything that you write is also surrounded by what Medium wants your readers to see — quite possibly links to content that isn’t yours.

And while Medium is clean and very whitespace happy and responsive, et alia — there’s the matter of brand identity, color scheme and other niceties that go along with having complete control over your own site.

Having said all of that, there are certainly projects that I have that have nothing to do with the points that I’ve mentioned — and I really should think twice about moving them to Medium for broader exposure.
