Thank you for your willingness to write this. I know we whites (at least in USA to speak for myself) can be. . . I imagine being patient with us on this is like being patient with a toddler. I appreciate your patience in being willing to spell this all out.

The message that “this is going to hurt [your feelings],” that in order to honestly examine racism in the US, well-meaning whites must be willing to be made uncomfortable, is really useful. It makes clear that if we refuse to experience this, our assertions that we care & want things to change are basically BS (“I want things to change as long as it costs me nothing”). Thanks again for this really helpful piece & thanks again for your patience!
