I watched 14 police officers take down a one-legged homeless Black man outside Twitter HQ
Chaédria LaBouvier

Thank you for posting this. I’ve lived in SF for 16 years and this is just disgusting. The police overreacted hugely. I wish I had seen the start of the whole thing because I have a feeling that it escalated all-too-quickly, as the police are now trained to physically intimidate (to dominate, actually, in order to lessen the chances of being physically challenged, I suppose)- rather than to contain and to understand a situation or to CALM a situation by talking to someone. Regardless, what’s seen here is one citizen’s rights being trampled- literally and figuritively — by a hyper-vigilant, steroidal police force that seemingly have nothing better to do in this mess of a city than pin a disabled man to the ground for 30 minutes without reprieve or communication. I wrote to the City Attorney, Suhr and Teresa Ewins requesting that they investigate and publicize a full accounting of: publicize a full accounting of:

- Why this man was approached by police

- Whether he was arrested, and on what charge

- Whether you believe reasonable force was used

- Whether you have any personal concerns about what you see in this video.
