Through most of my childhood and teenage years I struggled with identity issues as a first generational Belizean (Garifuna) American. Peers would tell me I wasn’t Black enough. Family would tell me I wasn’t true a Belizean. It was very tough trying to figure out who I was and where I belonged. It wasn’t until my adult years where I did my own research and discovered the term “AfroLatinx” that I felt like I finally gained the clarity I needed after all these years. Thank you for your contribution to this very important subject. I look forward to following your movement.
