Technology is always changing, but how do I decide on what should be adopted and should not be considered?

As the lecturer talked about repeatedly, you need to see how this will transform whatever company you’re working at. If it has no effect on the company then what is the use of it? I think this is the most important part when deciding on new technology. It is hard to see if a new breakthrough will important in ten years as it is when the hype it has when coming out. Proper research, and looking at how it will affect your current establishment should help in making the decision on what to do. Taking risks is important in progressing and being at the forefront the changing world of technology, but they must be calculated and thought through.

AI has a been in the news a lot, there is a lot of hype and expectations for it. There are also many companies adopting this technology, i’ve seen this slowly become used in everything from daily tech at home, big companies, researches, and gaming. It has a lot of potential. However, if i were to work at a company they were discussing whether or not to adopt AI, my first question would be; How will this affect/transform the company? And how can it be implemented with our current system.

In a discussion with a friend of mine, he felt that a big reason companies that adopt new technology fail is because they fall for the hype and promises, blinded by the problems or challenges that it opens. I think this is similar to people who buy new shoes when it comes out, there might be a new design, color or even promise of a new technology making it the most comfortable ever created. But, do you need it? Is it really that much better than the ones you are wearing now, most times not.
