Hey world,

This is weird, right? This entire thing -- you know what we’re talking about. First off, we hope you’re feeling well, and that your favorite people are feeling well, too.

Depending on where in the world you are — whether you’re on a sorta lockdown, sheltering in place, or you’re totally free to roam — it’s undeniable that the novel Coronavirus has shaken some things up a lot. One thing’s for sure, we’ve still gotta eat.

In many places, restaurants and cafes have shut down in order to contain the spread of the virus. As a result, many people (maybe you are one of them!) have gathered as many cans of beans, pasta, and other dry goods as possible. Not only that, but many of us are discovering cooking, or even just our stoves, for the first time. Quarantine snacks and cereal are getting old, fast. That’s why we’re launching something new.

From the people who bring you EarBuds Podcast Collective, we’re introducing a BI-WEEKLY RECIPE NEWSLETTER to help you stay cooking with fresh, easy, new tastes during this strange time. Instead of spending serious time googling “does sweet potato go with [insert another random ingredient you had in your fridge]” we want to send super accessible and creative recipes right to your inbox. Whether you decide to make that recipe, store it away for another day, or decide to go another route entirely is up to you. Our goal is to crowdsource recipes from folks around the world who are discovering newfound cooking skills, starting up in the kitchen again after a hiatus, or anything in between. Now that restaurants are closing to prevent crowding and virus spread, let’s get cooking in our own homes.

Welcome to the Community Curated Kitchen, a daily community-driven recipe recommendation newsletter. Each day, you’ll receive an email containing a simple recipe, some information about the curator, and some other positive words here and there. If COVID-19 has reminded us of anything, it’s that food is one of those things that crosses borders, languages, time zones. We all gotta do it, so let’s create a melting pot of new food ideas (pun intended…)

We want YOU to curate a recipe for us. To get started on that, all you have to do is fill out this quick form.

It’s really important for us, in creating this newsletter, that we call out our privilege and acknowledge those with food insecurities. While many of us are maybe nervous to go to the store, or feeling stupid in the kitchen, or are just tired of having to cook our own meals instead of eating out, for many in this country and world this is much more serious. There are so many circumstances for food insecurity and it affects everyone, from the young children to the elderly. As you use and curate these recipes, please keep this in mind, and if you are in a position to donate money, as you submit a recipe, we are asking for charity suggestions that you can donate to (locally, nationally, internationally) and will be including those in our bi-weekly newsletters.

With love and health,
