Dear author (Sorry, I couldn’t find your name),
My mom and Step-Dad are moving to Macau this week and they are thrilled and also scared about that. They’re afraid it’s going to be a cultural shock and that they will have difficulties finding their way around.
They speak English very poorly and no Chinese. The only language they’re fluent at is portuguese. I’m guessing, from your post, that there’s not a lot of people speaking portuguese.
I was wondering how you adapted to that life (any tips to surviving in a completely new culture, what is considered offensive, etc.) and if you could give me an inside on the life there (social aspects like where can a portuguese speaking middle aged couple can meet people).
Hope you’re liking it there and looking forward to hearing from you soon,
