Well, I guess it’s about time that I write about myself, which I do often, but not like this, not in biography form. When About Me Stories asked me to write this I agreed thinking that it would be easy, and each day since I have clicked on this draft in my stories folder, looked at it, and quickly closed it out. You see, I’ve written all about myself on Medium, from my abusive past to my eating disorder to what I am doing at this moment, right here, right now, but I’ve never really sat and given thought to who I am and how to describe myself in a bubble, and I mean, that’s what this is, right? …
Some days are better than others and some days are plagued with the thoughts that everybody is mad at you, hates you, or generally dislikes you. Though your friends, family, and loved ones have not done anything to particularly show that they may be upset with you, you are constantly being bombarded by feelings of discernment and abandonment. Fear not, for you are not alone. …
“We love you; you’re very special,” — Donald Trump, to white domestic terrorists
Yesterday, white domestic terrorists stormed the United States Capitol and, for those of us who have been watching and listening over the past four years, it is precisely what we expected to happen. Instead of comparing the lack of force used by the Capitol Police and the National Guard, what we need to focus on is how this happened and who provoked and incited this violence.
Now, we can put all of the blame on Donald Trump, because frankly, he told his supporters to do this yesterday and has been telling his supporters to do this for the past four years. He has been inciting violence since day one, that is what his entire presidency has been about; misinformation; fear-mongering; inciting violence; and denying the truth. However, the blame truly needs to shift, because though Donald Trump is an unhinged, mentally unstable, tyrannical monster, his enablers are truly who need to be blamed. …
January of every year is the month that people usually set a goal and that goal almost always revolves around diet and exercise. However, these goals are often unhealthy, unrealistic, and not based on wellness, rather they are based on biased measures of success set up for us by the diet and exercise industry. An industry that is currently worth $71 billion dollars in 2020. An industry that is hellbent on making us hate ourselves. …
It’s January of a New Year and you know what that means? Ads that are targeted at us to remind us that this is the year for losing! Lose weight, lose that “stubborn belly fat”, lose your cellulite, your stretch marks, and your inner thigh fat. Lose everything that is inherently normal and inherently human about your body. It’s time to get ready for that summer beach bod because the body you were born with and the body that has been surviving through a life-changing pandemic is clearly not good enough to be in a bikini.
Dear 2021: We’ve just been through the year 2020, the year that has felt like 30 years combined; a pandemic; a social justice uprising; a tyrannical monster who was somehow elected to be in charge of the United States; the year of COVID-19; government shutdowns; the year that the United States Government gave us the equivalent of $5.90 a day to make it through ten months of joblessness and all-around uncertainty. So, instead of piling weight loss advice onto us, on top of all of that, can we just take a break? …

With only six ingredients and no oven, these biscuits are incredible.
I love biscuits. That’s it, it’s pretty simple. I make biscuits and gravy on a regular basis, I love baking, and biscuits were the first thing I ever learned to bake. I usually use this, incredible recipe, but last week I decided that I wanted to make drop biscuits or skillet biscuits because I live in an RV and travel full-time so quick, super simple recipes have my heart. That is when I developed this incredible biscuit recipe that now I just can’t stop making!
I love this simple, pantry friendly recipe because you don’t need to buy any fancy ingredients, you can even make them without vegan cheese if you don’t have any lying around. Without further ado, here are the best darn biscuits you’ll ever eat. …
Here’s why I made the decision to disable comments on one of my most-commented on articles
On December 1st, I published a piece titled, “Dear White Men: Your Defense of Whiteness is Astounding,” to which I received many, many comments, mostly by white men, of course, defending whiteness. However, I also got the badge-of-honor comments that all women writers get; the “you’re so stupid,” or “you’re a bitch,” or the remarkable, “I hope you die,” I’ve also been told I am “terminally dense” and that I am “wasting my time” writing articles like these. Articles, that by the way, supplement my income. …
If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we’ve got a lot of growing to do
2020 has been a year full of changes, unknown experiences, tragedy, and the unexpected. …
“The problem with me”, I would say fully assured of myself, “Is that I just can’t shut my mind off.”
I’m not going to lie and I’m not going to sit here and tell you that it was easy. Up until recently, I was that person who thought yoga was too new-agey, meditation was a sham, and that frankly, I’m way too high strung to experience the benefits of either. Believe me, I see the irony in explaining that I am too high strung for yoga and meditation, I am definitely the person that needs both the most. …
