Brand Story Challenge: Day 2
My business and life changed during the middle of a lecture lead by Industrial Engineer, Farhad Elahi, in a hard to find classroom next to the cafeteria at San Diego Mesa College. #brandstorychallenge #day2
I remember this moment so clearly because since I was in elementary school I’ve been writing about my life in diaries. Over the years I’ve lost journals and even had a few of them stolen. It’s a bit sad but I cherish the fact that they helped me get through what I was going through at the time. I currently use Evernote to record my thoughts and stumbled upon this entry. It’s as if it was written just for this moment. To be shared during this challenge. I NEVER direct my entries towards anyone but myself. But for whatever reason this day I did. Here’s my unedited diary entry from May 23rd, 2016:
My name is Crystal Crawford and I am an aspiring Fashion Designer. I want to explore the field of wearable technology or as I like to call it smart garments. It seems to me when ppl say wearable tech a fit bit, Apple Watch or other accessories comes to mind. But I want to go beyond that. The worlds of Fashion and Technology are merging. From user controlled LED’s in clothes to smart fabric that acts like a touch screen and everything in between. I have had this dream for a while but didn’t know where to start… I was stuck in a whirlwind of confusion until I went to a seminar that changed it all. I learned that people are doing some of the things I had merely dreamed of as well as things I didn’t even know was possible. At first this scared me. I’m not the only one with these crazy ideas. I’m no longer the first… But then I realized that’s all the better for me. I can build and learn from others mistakes and successes. Plus I learned that I don’t and shouldn’t walk this path alone. Partnerships that were unheard of 10 years ago will soon be common. Designers are teaming up with chemists, engineers, and even Google to bring these mad scientist projects to life. A confused mind doesn’t make decisions and I no longer want to be in that state. I’m still not exactly sure how I will achieve my goal but I know for a fact that I will. This is my journey to a life I’ve dreamed about for so long. A life of fashion, travel, and never working again because I’m doing what I love.
