HuffPo is everything that is wrong with journalism

Huffington Post India is everything that is wrong with content farms masquerading as journalistic outlets. You are better off reading Mid-Day or even an Afternoon & dispatch than the BS HuffPo churns out.

The website pretends to be a liberal news organisation but in reality is nothing but a content pawn shop. And a bad one at that.

HuffPo is an amalgamation of opinions with varying degree of fact checking.

Here are two examples of stories that they have been promoting on Facebook:

This according to Huffington Post India is news. Yup. Katy Perry’s week old Instagram story is worth promoting. What good does this ‘news’ bring to the public. NOTHING. All they want is clicks to show ads. And outrage gets clicks.

This next story is on how misunderstood poor labradors are. Yet again, this is a promoted story. Why promote it? Look at the number of reactions. Labradors are good for business. Heck, they even beat Katy Perry at the numbers game.

The point of this rant being:

  1. HuffPo and journalism have nothing to do with each other. They are content farms that want clicks to sell ads
  2. Not all opinions are worthy of your time, check author bio before you read the story
  3. This is a great place to get your and your company(s) views out
  4. NEVER take any self-help tips from HuffPo seriously (No, you are NOT depressed, STFU)

I’ll end this rant with a nice quote shared by Gokul V,
