Raising tigers and dragons
The true story behind scenes of a mom’s job
Being a mom is never easy and if someone says otherwise is lying or just does not have an idea of what parenting is.
It’s up to you to set an example of life for your kids; to raise them as good as you can with healthy limits but try not to be to severe at the same time while fighting with your own childhood issues (and your couple’s if you have one). That without counting the cooking, and the cleaning, and the laundry, and the bills, and the school chores (you know, to get involved with teachers and meetings and homework etc.) and if you are like me, a working mom, with work issues, also.
At the end of the day, when you are counting your scars… is all that hard work worth for something? Sometimes it may seems like NOT, and its OK to feel like you are tired of being a mom from time to time. Let’s be honest, we have all felt like that sometimes (SPECIALLY if we are doing a good job and giving our best for our kids). My best advice on this feeling is: just accept it, embrace it and let it go (yes, like the FROZEN song). Don’t feel guilty or regretful, it’s OK to feel tired… I mean, you are a human after all and deserve a little rest, don’t you?
Does being a mom has a good side anyways? The answer for me would be: DEFINITELY. Even though we could give it for granted or forget it (ups!) our children are there to remind us that they need us, and love us.
Hearing an “I love you mom”, receiving a hug, a wet kiss or a finger-painted heart-shaped card… Realizing how big have they got and how quick does time goes by. The love we feel inside of our huge mommy-hearts is the best reward we could ever get.
When you take notice that you are doing a great job after all, and they are growing to be healthy happy men and women that will make this huge world a nicer place to live in: Watching them earn their stripes, watching their scales to grow, their roar to develop, their wings open wide and preparing to fly… that’s the great part of raising tigers and dragons.
