What one does when one does nothing

Sits on the roof watching birds and planes go by
lights up a cigarette and let’s the phone cry

Counts his money along with the debts and
asks god why?

Weighs his religious inclination against the practical possibilities
then re-frames the question to “if an omnipotent entity who manages all exists, then why mismanage a poor guy”

Lights another one only to put it down. The inner voice goes
“you’ve been wheezing much lately. CANCER! DEATH! Your end is nigh”
