Successful graduates who meet qualification requirements may take the national exam administered by the Certification Board for Music Therapists as well.
The Academic coursework for Music therapists includes at least 1, 200 hours of clinical expertise, including a clinical intern and, generally, fieldwork placements. Students work in close discussion with a managing music specialist. An undergraduate equivalency in Music Therapy is an abbreviated program that includes core Music therapy coursework, clinical requirements including the internship, plus science and psychology classes, such as anatomy and physiology and abnormal psychology.
Even though a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy is an acceptable entry level of education, several companies expect a graduate level of new hires. Graduate Music Therapy students can further study for a Masters in music education to enhance their knowledge and clinical proficiency. Graduate school can be a possibility to focus on a particular region, like Music Psychotherapy or the Nordoff Robbins strategy. Some students can also do specializations in specific field if they have special interests.
