Bear Claw Recipe

Here is a recipe for Bear Claws:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup warm milk (105°F to 115°F)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup ground almonds
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and the yeast. Let stand for 5 minutes, until the yeast is foamy.
- Stir in the 3 cups of flour, butter, egg, and salt until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- Punch down the dough and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a 12x18-inch rectangle.
- In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and ground almonds.
- Spread the almond mixture evenly over the dough.
- Starting with the long side, roll the dough up tightly.
- Cut the dough into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the bear claws on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the bear claws with the beaten egg.
- Sprinkle the bear claws with the sliced almonds.
- Bake the bear claws for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let the bear claws cool slightly before serving.
