Here is a recipe for Bear Claws:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm milk (105°F to 115°F)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup ground almonds
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and the yeast. Let stand for 5 minutes, until the yeast is foamy.
  2. Stir in the 3 cups of flour, butter, egg, and salt until a dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a 12x18-inch rectangle.
  7. In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and ground almonds.
  8. Spread the almond mixture evenly over the dough.
  9. Starting with the long side, roll the dough up tightly.
  10. Cut the dough into 12 equal pieces.
  11. Place the bear claws on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  12. Brush the bear claws with the beaten egg.
  13. Sprinkle the bear claws with the sliced almonds.
  14. Bake the bear claws for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  15. Let the bear claws cool slightly before serving.
