Homework 2/9
While there is certainly a plethora of credible sources on the internet, there are just as many, if not more, unreliable sources as well. Armed with the right knowledge and tools, anyone can pick out a great source from the many less than stellar ones.
One of the most important things to look into when identifying a credible source, is the author. The author’s expertise, background, bias, and qualifications to talk about the specific subject are all important factors when considering an articles’ (or any other sources) credibility.
The currency of the source also directly contributes to the credibility of said source. An article or source, no matter how well-versed or credible the author is, will not be considered relevant or credible if it is a decade old. All sources should be current and contain current information in order to be considered credible.
When trying to determine if a source is credible or not, it is also important to look at the type of website the information is coming from. The information from a personal website is going to differ in form and fact from that of a professional website. The credibility of a website can in part be determined by the type of website the information is coming from.
