Crazy when life comes at you hard……

So, life can kind of lead you in some crazy directions and we can try to manipulate or try to control what we want to do or where we’re going in our life. But, to be honest, we really don’t know what’s going to happen. I’m thirty-two years old and I think I was maybe nine/ten, perhaps even younger, when I heard my very first 8 Ball and MJG song, and I heard it fairly early because I grew up in Texas. I was the audience, I was the listeners, I was the city, and in the state, in the region that 8 Ball and MJG catered to. So, before the world knew them, I knew them. My friends knew them, my family knew them — my brothers, my uncles — and their sound was like the beginning of something that was different for us. Their sound wasn’t represented when it came to Hip-Hop, and I remember listening to rap and watching Hip-Hop videos and watching the break dancing and none of that shit had anything to do with the South, especially the Southwest. Like, coming from Texas, people would try to discredit us and say that we’re not the South, and we would have to try to convince outsiders that, yeah, we’re the South. We live a little bit West than y’all but we’re the South. And it was refreshing to begin to see so many Southern talents that were true lyrists be seen, like Scarface, Ghetto Boys, 8 Ball & MJG, Pimp C, Swisher House Records, and DJ Screw. All these people began to make a great impact on Hip-Hop and they represented the South…the Southwest. So, here I am, thirty-two years old, a part of something that I had no idea was going to cross my path nearly twenty years later. I’m more set as a producer for their life’s story. Now, that’s my coming full circle. I don’t know what to really tell you. I sit and talk with 8 Ball and MJG, I sit and I observe them, I sit and I take in their story, I take in their humor, I take in their history, and I’m at awe because I wasn’t really supposed to be here according to my timeline. I really am supposed to be writing books. I’m just a Texas girl that had a dream to move to Atlanta to write books. I didn’t think I was going to be crossing this path but check out these pictures, y’all, check out what I was able to experience and what’s yet to come. Life can be pretty cool if you just let it flow.
