Looking back

How different was I when I was ten?

Looking back on when I was ten I can not help but cringe, my thinking and knowledge was restricted to what I was taught in school or what my parents told me. Never did I question what I was being told in school or what other adults said. In my mind they were right and because I was a child, and because of that I was wrong. I had very little interested in the world around me, and was very eager to grow up. My main interest were my friends, toys, and T.V. However looking back I would have to say that I would have been interested in more if more was offered of me, that itself is a sad thing. Why did I feel as though I could not question? Not ask about the world around me? It was not as if information was restricted, or with held from me. So why?

I believe the main reason is that at such a young age I was so caught up with my own imagination, and I found the world around me no where near as interesting. People would tell me something and I would assume the little bit they told me was the truth, and then I would make up the resat to fit my own way of thinking. When you are a child we do not think of logic or restrictions, we believe the sky is our limit, and because of that thinking it is.

Now I would consider myself the opposite. The world around me seems more important, and fact tends to rule my mind. I as a young person think more about what the my future will most likely be ,instead of what I want it to be. Logic overtakes, my dreams and anything put in front of me, I question and critique. Education seems more important then having fun, because as kids my age, myself included, are constantly reminded that without education we will go no were in life.

I found myself torn between witch frame of mind is better. Is it better to be young and careless or sensible and focused on one thing and one thing only. I believe that the key to self content comes into our life's when we find the perfect balance of both. If we mange to keep our minds open, young and bright, but also be able to set our minds on a task and do it. Because the say that some of the worlds best things would have once sounded crazy.
