Research: Mis-En-Scene?
Mise En Scene is ultimately everything in a frame. It is everything visual that people can see in the frame. Using different components of cinematography, audiences can see different elements that help them put the pieces together about the media.
The purpose of mise en scene is to capture the audience into the visual world they have created in front of their eyes. It is used in order to fulfill the audience's vision of the media.
our task was to create a horror poster that is able to create meaning and effect and get the message across to the audience.
For my poster, I used a red theme color along with a hint of romance in order to give the look of romance and death. I added romance into my poster by using specific fonts and death by using the color red (which can also be perceived as something to be associated with love) and the color black, which connotes death
The color red on the poster connotes different meanings, such as death/blood/something bad/love or etc. The color black usually connotes the idea of death, or something bad going to occur. The font of the word ‘death’ is dripping, along with the color red, this could connote someone's blood dripping in the media in the future. The font of ‘message’ is romantic and is usually used when writing love letters/ happy thoughts. This suggests that in the film, there is something to do with the idea of romance and death. The blood splotches around the poster further signify the idea of gore or death throughout the movie that will be created with the poster.
This helps prove how everything in a frame can influence the narrative or genre of the theme. For example, if the blood splotches and the dripping blood in the word death were not there, it would make it harder for the audience to signify the idea of blood/gore in the film. So using mise en scene to connect with the audience and give them hints about the film is a good technique to connect with audiences on a personal level
